First Post!!

I'm the father of two highly-connected, bandwidth hungry teenagers. Over the next little while, I'm going to revamp our network to be easier to use, faster, and most importantly requires less support using mostly open source components.

Some first tasks:

1. Segment our WAN: Right now, everything crosses the same gateway and managing firewall rules for consoles are difficult. I want to separate my kids stuff, my work stuff and my stuff so they can all have different rules and quotas.
2. Improved quotas and limits for a wide number of devices. Our house has 28 things that use the internet. The product I'm using to manage them only supports 10 devices. I think I can do better.
